These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Shy Inc. (“Shy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the Shy mobile application, our websites at theshyapp.com and app.theshyapp.com, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account and use the Service. By using Shy, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
To use Shy you register with a mobile phone number and verify it with a one-time passcode. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You may not share your account or impersonate any person or entity.
Shy is a location-based social discovery service that helps you connect with other people who are physically present at verified locations (“Shy Locations”). Availability of features, locations, and other users depends on factors outside our control, and we do not guarantee that you will make any particular connection. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.
The Service uses tokens for certain actions, such as sending a chat request, and offers optional paid subscriptions (“Shy Plus”). Purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms. Except where required by law or the applicable app store’s policies, purchases are non-refundable. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled through your app store account settings.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
You retain ownership of the content you submit. You grant Shy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, and display your content solely to operate and provide the Service. You are responsible for the content you share and represent that you have the rights to share it.
Program description. By opting in, you agree to receive text messages from Shy (Shy Inc.), which may include one-time passcodes (OTP) that verify your identity when you sign in, account and activity notifications, and occasional announcements about new features. This is a low-volume, low-frequency messaging program.
How you opt in. You provide consent by entering your mobile number and tapping “Send code” in the Shy mobile app or on our web login at app.theshyapp.com/login. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase.
Message frequency & rates. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply.
Opt-out & help. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message; you will receive a confirmation and no further messages. Reply HELP for help, or contact shysupport@theshyapp.com.
Carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Sharing. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except with subcontractors strictly in support of the messaging service (for example, our SMS provider).
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
The Service, including its software, design, logos, and content (excluding user content), is owned by Shy Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Shy is a platform for meeting people and does not conduct criminal background checks on users; you are solely responsible for your interactions with others and should exercise caution. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shy Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service and its users.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
